The 38-year-old has only worked two months as a coach at the club.

Florent Malouda claims to have learned of his release from FC Zurich when the club announced it on Twitter.

The 38-year-old player retired last year and was last in Luxembourg, FC Differdange 03.

He then joined Zurich in February as a coach.

The club however announced Thursday morning that it had announced the "Chelsea legend" by "mutual consent".

FC Zurich and Florent Malouda have agreed to end the recent cooperation.

"We wish Florent Malouda good luck and a lot of success in his future."

It seems that someone forgot to talk to Malouda about the news, though.

He replied, "Really did not know that … ??"

The former winger spent six seasons at Stamford Bridge where he won the Premier League, Champions League and three FA Cup.

Before joining the Blues, Malouda enjoyed success with Lyon where he won four consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
