While support continues to grow, the situation of Al-Araibi, held in Thailand for two months and threatened with deportation to Bahrain, remains a concern.

The Attorney General of Thailand on Friday approved Bahrain's request for extradition of Al-Araibi. The Melbourne-based refugee is expected to face a court on Monday, where he will formally ask not to be sent back to his country.

This request will likely make him stay in detention for another 60 days while the courts decide.

Former Socceroo Craig Foster continues to call for the immediate release of Al-Araibi and met with FIFA late last month, where he admitted that the situation had become an "emergency".

Al-Araibi's wife also came during the week to plead for her husband's life, saying "that he will be killed" if he were to be sent back to Bahrain.
