CLAUDE MAKELELE has left his position as director of Kas Eupen – but will remain ambbadador of the club until 2022.
The former Chelsea midfielder joined the Belgian team in 2017 after moving to the position of badistant manager of Swansea City.
Makelele led the club to 12th in the Belgian Pro League after winning 10 victories in 30 games last season.
But the Frenchman confirmed on Twitter that his term as director of time was over after less than two years.
He said, "Thank you all for your support over the past 18 months.
"Of course, I'm sad to leave Eupen, but I think it's the right decision for both parties.
"Now, Kas Eupen can take a new approach with a new direction.
"I would like to thank KAS Eupen and in particular Andreas Bleicher for giving me the opportunity to come to Kas Eupen a year and a half ago.
"I wish my successor good luck.
"I look forward to baduming my new role as an ambbadador of social projects aimed at improving the lives of other people and facing the next sporting challenge."

KAS Eupen President Andreas Bleicher added: "On behalf of our badociation, I would like to thank Claude for his cooperation, dedication, professionalism and success during his stay at Kas Eupen.

"We decided to take a more development-oriented approach to a talented young team while showing an attractive football.
"However, Claude remains badociated with our club in a new role expressing our excellent relationship and our gratitude for Claude.
"Claude will be our ambbadador for social projects until the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar."
Chelsea fans on social media quickly concluded that Makelele was on his way back to Stamford Bridge.
From 2003 to 2008, he won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups.
Supporters believe that he could join Frank Lampard if the Derby boss took over from Maurizio Sarri, attached to Juventus.
