Chelsea will launch a last-minute offer to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure on the transfer deadline date, the report said.

The Blues are in shock after their 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth Tuesday night, while Maurizio Sarri insisted again and again on the need for a replacement for the late Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea was expected to get closer to a substitute, but the offerings of Serie A star Nicolo Barella and midfielder Zenit St. Petersburg's Leandro Paredes have failed.

The form of Doucoure has attracted the attention of some great clubs and the mirror claim that Chelsea are big fans of the 26 year old player.

Watford was alarmed by Doucoure's comments earlier this month, which revealed that the French had the ambition to play one day for PSG.

Chelsea will have to work quickly to seal a deal and convince a reluctant Watford to part with one of their most influential players on the day of the deadline.

The window closes at 11pm tonight and in Watford, Doucoure is bound to the club by a contract until 2023.

But Doucoure's desire to play in a big club could help Chelsea, as he revealed his joy at being badociated with PSG.

"The PSG occupies an important place in my heart," said Doucoure.

"They already contacted me, but I wanted to go to England at the time.

To hear that such clubs are interested in you is a pleasure.

"I think that a club like PSG is looking for a lot of players, it has a lot of tracks, I'm not the only one, I'm happy to play in Watford and the club trusts me."
