The loan period of Gonzalo Higuain in Chelsea should be interrupted at the end of the season. In Italy, information that it is "almost certain" to return to Juventus in summer.

The 31-year-old has had a sensational experience working previously with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, beating a Serie A record for goals scored in one season with 36 in 35 games for Napoli in 2015-16.

Sarri desperately wanted a meeting with the Argentine international and persuaded Chelsea to grant him a six – month loan in January, with the option of an additional year and a permanent transfer.

It seems unlikely, however, that Higuain will remain at Stamford Bridge after the end of the campaign, since he has scored only three times in ten Premier League matches for the club and 13 matches in all competitions.

These three strikes took place against Huddersfield Town and Fulham, who have already been relegated to the background. Higuain has not been able to win against higher caliber opponents. He lost his place in the team in Sunday's loss to Liverpool, Eden Hazard being preferred to a fake 9.

The problem for Chelsea is that if Higuain returns to Juventus, they may not be able to replace him this summer after being prevented by Fifa from signing a player by the next two transfer windows in February.

Chelsea has appealed the verdict but is awaiting the decision of Fifa. Olivier Giroud has been a duplicate of Higuain in recent months and has admitted to having already received offers to start in the summer, at the end of his contract.

Higuain had an equally unproductive lending period in AC Milan during the first half of the campaign and is in excess of Juventus' requirements.
