Frank Lampard says "a fantastic talent" Callum Hudson-Odoi is at the heart of Chelsea's future.

Hudson-Odoi, 18, had a decisive season at Stamford Bridge before getting injured in April.

The winger is considered one of the best hopes of English football and has been the subject of many offers from Bayern Munich.

"I've seen Callum come in and he's a fantastic talent," said Lampard, the new boss of Chelsea. "We all know him and I'm going to talk to him and I want him to stay.

"I know the club wants him to stay and for me he will play a central role for us on the pitch. This is the opportunity that presents itself to him now, certainly from my sitting position.

"So that's something I'm going to talk to him about and I hope he stays.

"When I say that it's going to play a central role, there are things that it will want to improve as a young player and there are things through natural development that are going to happen. improve, so I'm not going to say things that are going well sky but with his talent, he may be at the center of this team, he may be at the center of England, so I will say that I want to work with him, I want to move it forward and I want to improve it as a player. & # 39;

Lampard, legend of Chelsea, who left Derby County to join his former club, added: "I will pay a lot of attention to Callum, because of the contractual position he is in, to try to convince him to stay and avoid any falsehood or any false statement to him.

"I know what player he is in and I think he can be an amazing player, he still has a lot to do and I want to work with him to do it, but for that he has to stay more long time at the club.

"Of course it goes to a decision between him and the club and I'm not involved in the financial negotiations, but I can certainly tell him how I see him and I see him being a huge player for us.

"Before Callum was hurt, you could certainly see the opportunities he had to play. He played well and did not let the player know what he was, not just for Chelsea, but for England, and that's what he needs to know.

"I remember being 17, 18 or 19 and I was not as good as Callum at that age, no doubt, but I was frustrated because Harry Redknapp was not playing me [at West Ham] and I wanted to play, and that's part of the breakthrough in the first team.

"I remember seeing Nigel Quashie play for QPR. Jody Morris was playing for Chelsea and I was not in West Ham at that age.

"If you have the right attitude, these things are good competition. I do not think that at 18, you should be too worried, I can say that now I'm 41 and that I can look back and say that it was probably good for me to see this because it has pushed me to continue.

"I believe Callum has all the attributes to play and make similar statements on the world stage, as we see with [Jadon] Sancho and other great players from all over the world, and when I talk to him I'll tell him he can do it in Chelsea. "

Lampard was officially unveiled Thursday as new manager of Chelsea after the departure of Maurizio Sarri last month.
