The 40-year-old would bid for a senior coaching position at Stamford Bridge, and the Rams recognize that they can not stop speculation.

The owner of the Derby Counter, Mel Morris, is not concerned by the information linking manager Frank Lampard and Chelsea.

Lampard, a great blues player, won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Europa League, while at Stamford Bridge, but he took his first steps in managing with Derby.

The 40-year-old guided the Rams to the final of the playoffs Monday against Aston Villa, although preparation for a pivotal match was hampered by suggestions that he could leave the club.

Publisher's choice

Lampard would be a candidate to replace Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri, who continues to be speculated despite a solid end to the season.

The Blues finished third in the Premier League and will play the Europa League final against Arsenal on 29 May.

The head of the Morris Derby will work to keep Lampard, but admits that he can not do anything to prevent the name of the former midfielder from being discussed.

"Frank will still be tied to Chelsea," Morris said BBC Radio Derby.
