It was a big week for Chelsea.
Not only has Frank Lampard been officially announced and finally announced as the Blues' new head coach, but he has also confirmed today that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed a new long-term deal.
The 23-year-old has signed a new five-year contract to see him at the club until 2024 and bring him £ 150,000 a week.
It's exciting for Blues fans to have it on the long run, but also to see the player that he could become under Lampard.
After being barely used by Antonio Conte, Loftus-Cheek was loaned to Crystal Palace and had a decent season with the Eagles.
Having competed at the World Cup with England, the 23-year-old returned to the blues and would have hoped to have more chances in the Premier League with Maurizio Sarri.
At the beginning, however, this did not happen. The Englishman started only six league games, but had a considerable impact in the Europa League on the way to the finals.
It's not entirely Sarri's fault that Loftus-Cheek does not have the minutes he could have had, with a recurring problem that his time on the pitch has been slightly reduced.
Loftus-Cheek was going to start the Europa League final, but during the friendly match against New England Revolution, he ripped Achilles' tendon.
The 23-year-old should be out for the start of the 2019/20 season, but that did not stop Chelsea from tying him to a long-term contract.
There is still no definite decision as to Loftus-Cheek's best position, but he has shown his ability to score goals last season.

Loftus-Cheek scored six Premier League goals, winning four more in the Europa League, including a fantastic hat trick.
If someone should develop his game and learn from it, then Lampard is the ideal man for that.
Of course, Lampard was known for his ability to score goals from midfield. It is rare for a club to have a midfielder as a record scorer, but Chelsea succeeds with the Lampard 211 net.
No one expects Loftus-Cheek to publish these figures, but his development could be superb under Lampard's leadership and he could become the modern version of him.
Loftus-Cheek has more power and rhythm than Lampard in his youth, but there is no doubt that the tactical element of the Lampard game has been far superior.

But it's something that Loftus-Cheek can develop during his tenure and he's already started this process under Sarri last season.
For all players on the team right now, Loftus-Cheek could be the most exciting when he gets back into shape after his injury.
