Chelsea has reservations about the appointment of Mbadimiliano Allegri to his next director. It would be presumed that Javi Gracia would be replaced by Maurizio Sarri.

The Blues have agreed to let Sarri join Juventus after rejecting the Italian's offer to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The installation of Sarri in Turin should be announced in the coming days, the former boss of Napoli to succeed Allegri.

Allegri has won five Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia trophies during his five-year stay at Juventus, but left at the end of the 2018-19 season and would like to join Premier League club Chelsea.

However, according to ESPN FC, Chelsea would hesitate to appoint a third successive Italian manager, following the short and turbulent stays of Sarri and his predecessor, Antonio Conte.

Doubts about Allegri mean that Chelsea has identified the Watford Gracia as a potential target to replace Sarri.

Gracia, 49, arrived at Vicarage Road last year and impressed the Chelsea board after leading the Hornets to the FA Cup final last season.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was also named after leading Derby County to the championship playoff final in his first season as manager.

After Derby's defeat at Aston Villa in Wembley, Lampard was questioned about ties to the former Chelsea club and said, "I'm not interested in speculation.

"It's not more likely that I'm leaving [after Derby lost the play-off final]. I'm going to sit with Mel [Derby owner Melvyn Morris] in the next few days – he was brilliant.

"I have a two-year contract and I love working in this place. We will see what happens.

Sarri led Chelsea to a third-place finish in the Premier League last season and also beat the Europa League after beating Arsenal in last week's final in Baku.
