Chelsea had his first discussions with Frank Lampard on the possibility that the legend of the club succeeds Maurizio Sarri.
The Italian striker behind Chelsea's UEFA Europa League campaign, who has secured a UEFA Champions League qualification, is expected to return to his country after 10 months of turbulence in West London.
Max Allegri, whom Sarri will replace in Turin, was the first favorite to inherit the Stamford Bridge star and would have even learned English lessons before moving to the Premier League.
At 51, however, it is likely that Chelsea will be forced to take a sabbatical to look for alternatives. Rafael Benitez was linked to a return to Stamford Bridge earlier this week, while Ajax's Erik Ten Hag would also be under consideration.

Chelsea would have doubts about Lampard's suitability given his lack of experience as a leader with only one season in Derby.
The 40-year-old narrowly missed the promotion after leading an exciting young Derby team in the playoffs final, where he was narrowly defeated by a team from Aston Villa coached by John Terry.

'It's an obvious link in the whole season. If I say that it may be because we are in the final and we are talking about us, we had a good year and then I am bound because of my 13 years at the club. I understand the link, "said Lampard before Derby's defeat in Wembley.
"But as far as the way I see it, I do not want to think about it, I want to talk about Monday, I want to work with the team, I want everything to happen to us.
"I have two years left in my contract here and I do not see further than Monday. I'm going to sit with Mel after the match, which was planned before all that [Chelsea] talk anyway, to see the result on Monday first, because that will define how we discuss and see where the club will move forward. It's as simple as that. & # 39;
