Chelsea fans staged a protest against the Super League ahead of their goalless home draw against Brighton at Stamford Bridge, and were later seen celebrating once news of their withdrawal leaked.

But the club’s statement – the latest to be released from the Big Six clubs – did not apologize for their intentions, simply stating: ‘As reported earlier tonight, Chelsea Football Club can confirm that they have started formal procedures for withdrawal from the group. develop plans for a European Super League.

But in a personal statement, the confidence of the club’s official supporters expressed zero confidence in the board and demanded that Buck and Laurence leave the club, as well as a thorough examination of why the club had gone. signed up for the Separatist League plans.

“It has been confirmed that Chelsea Football Club are officially canceling their plans to join the European Super League,” it read. “Although this is a huge victory for fans around the world, our fight to secure the future of the club will continue.

“The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust is appalled at the tone and insincerity of the statement released by CFC today.

“ We ask for a full and in-depth explanation of why the board of directors made the decision to turn their backs on European competition and that the CFC explain why they entered the Super League without prior consultation with their loyalists. supporters.

“We are disappointed that an apology was not included in the statement. Our club’s legacy has been jeopardized for what appears to have been purely financial gain.

“CSE currently has little or no confidence in our current leadership at the board level. Bruce Buck widely defended CFC’s plan to stay in the Super League on Monday at a fan forum.

“ Buck, alongside Laurence, appears to have given no consideration to loyal supporters, so their positions would appear untenable in the future, ” the statement continued.

“ Our relationship with CFC will remain frayed until we have a better understanding of why this decision was made and we are confident that the change and safeguards are put in place.

“CSE will not rest until we are convinced that the change and the protections are in place, because 116 years of history have been threatened. This is our club and will remain so. ”

Buck – who informed Chelsea players of the club’s intention to join the Super League in a meeting on Monday before their spectacular withdrawal – has been president since 2003, while Laurence was appointed to his current post in January 2018.

Thomas Tuchel has meanwhile said he is not the right man to discuss plans after his side’s 0-0 draw with Brighton.
