Chelsea Transfer News: Donnarumma wishes good luck to Gonzalo Higuain before the planned move

Gianluigi Donnarumma wished his team-mate Gonzalo Higuain well before the expected move of the AC Milan striker to Chelsea.

Higuain was not part of the Milan squad during Monday's 2-0 win in Genoa. Head coach Gennaro Gattuso hinted that Juventus loanee was concentrating elsewhere.

An agreement to bring the Argentine international to Stamford Bridge has not yet been finalized, but it seems that he has already played his last match for Milan.

Donnarumma, who made several great saves in Milan's win at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, does not understand why Higuain wants to spend just six months after the start of his loan contract.

"If Higuain has made this choice, there must be reasons, but he is a friend and I wish him the best of success," Donnarumma told Sky Sport Italia.

Fabio Borini and Suso were reinstated in the starting lineup of Milan after their 1-0 defeat by Juventus in last week's Supercoppa Italiana. They both scored the goal of a well-deserved victory for the men of Gattuso.

Borini opened the scoring with a point blank finish before Suso was converted from inside the post at the end of the match, with Milan finishing in fourth place, having failed to score in consecutive league games. .

Donnarumma conceded that Milan had started slowly against Genoa, but the 19-year-old goalkeeper was delighted that his team resumed its Serie A campaign with all three points.

"The defeat of the Supercoppa has hurt, but our goal is fourth and we are up to it, let's focus on the next game, this one is in the bag," he added.

"It was not a good start, but we suffered together and that is the most important thing, we fought and our quality finally emerged to win a very difficult match.

The first four Milan missions are likely to continue without Higuain in their ranks, but deputy director Luigi Riccio hopes that other people – like Patrick Cutrone – will be able to replace his replacement.
