Ruben Loftus-Cheek and David Luiz, both scored by Eden Hazard at the start of the second half, helped Chelsea win 3-0 at home against Watford in the Premier League on Sunday.

Argentine shooter Gonzalo Higuain added a third goal in the 75th minute, allowing Chelsea to move closer to his goal of placing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.

The win put Chelsea in third place with 71 points, one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth and five ahead of Arsenal, who will face Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

After a frenzied first period during which Watford had the best chances with Troy Deeney, Gerard Deulofeu and Jose Holebas were all animated, Chelsea, booed at the break, took off.

Loftus-Cheek found the net in the 48th minute after a short corner from Hazard and a 1-2 with Pedro. Hazard carried the ball to the far post and the tall midfielder tilted his head.

Moments later, Brazilian defender Luiz led Chelsea for second, straight from a Hazard corner, before Chelsea improved his goal range with Higuain's third thanks to a decisive pbad from Pedro.

Both teams have concerns outside the championship, with Chelsea facing Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League semi-final match Thursday and Watford against Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 18

"The schedule is difficult, but when you have fantastic players, more than 11 players, you can rotate and have the same quality," said Luiz. "We have that, it is difficult, but it is difficult for everyone.

"We were successful in getting all three points, but we still have to fight until the end."

The players and their families ran a lap of honor after their last game of the season in the league, with the club captain Gary Cahill – who had already attacked boss Maurizio Sarri for disrespect – led the players out as he prepared to leave Chelsea after six and a half years with the club.

The former English defender has won two Premier League titles, two FA Cup, a League Cup, a Champions League and a Europa League trophy with the club, but has fallen out of favor this season.
