Chelsea vs. West Ham: Manuel Pellegrini encourages Maurizio Sarri to stay true to his philosophy despite skepticism

Manuel Pellegrini believes that his Chelsea counterpart, Maurizio Sarri, is right to stick to his philosophy, despite the skepticism of Stamford Bridge.

The Italian had trouble implementing his famous "Sarri-ball" system. Supporters are increasingly frustrated to see players play out of position.

However, the recent wins over Cardiff and Brighton have allowed Chelsea to remain firmly in the running to rank among the top four in the first season at the helm of Sarri.

Pellegrini's first four appearances as manager of West Ham ended in a defeat, prompting questions about his attacking style. Yet the Chilean remained true to his principles and ultimately reversed his results.

He said, "It's harder when you do not get the results you want, players will believe if they see it that way, you win.

"As a manager, you must be used to this pressure, but you must continue to do what you think is the best way to win a game before and during the match.

"After that, personally, when I do not win the match, I make a self-criticism about the mistakes.

"If you still feel that you have to change something because the pressure will be too much, I do not think you can be a top manager.

"Maurizio has just started his first season here in England It's not easy to come to the Premier League, you have to know a lot.

"He may be one of the reasons they played very well and now that they have some bad results, you can not trust everything he does."

"He's a very good manager, he's shown that to another team, so I hope he'll finish this season in a good position for Chelsea.

"At this moment, Chelsea are close to the Champions League place for next season, maybe they are not involved in the title but they continue to fight for the Europa League and have reached the final of the Ligue's cup.

"So, when we finish the season if Chelsea takes a place in the Champions League, I think it will be a good season for Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri."

Felipe Anderson and Samir Nasri will come back from an injury for West Ham when they face the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere made a comeback after an injury while under-23s won 1-0 over Leicester in a PL2 match at London Stadium on Sunday.

The former Arsenal and England player, who has been sidelined by two ankle problems this season, has only played eight minutes as a substitute for the first team since September .

Wilshere participated in the Premier League 3-0 win over Newcastle at St James's Park in December, but has since been offside.

Pellegrini is looking forward to seeing Wilshere, who has been training with the U23 team for the past two weeks, back in the game and the midfielder started the game against Leicester.
