In the last 12 hours it has been reported that Willian is about to sign a two-year contract extension in Chelsea.

This will really divide many Chelsea fans, many seeing his potential and others totally disgusted with his inconsistency.

Whatever you think of the Brazilian, you can really question the decision to resign. The club is prohibited from making transfers until next summer. We can not sell it. We will already miss quality attack with the departure of Eden Hazard.

Willian's contract will expire next summer. He will be able to withdraw for free and sign a preliminary contract for a new team from January. We know he will be part of the team this season. It will therefore retain a lot of value even beyond 30 years.

So, even though we intend to sell it next summer, the cost of an extra year's salary is well worth the chance to sell it for a lot more next summer, rather than losing it. Add to that the fact that we need him to play and so he can not sell it, and you get what's called "an obviousness".
