CHELSEA is approaching the shocking appointment of its former director, Rafa Benitez, according to reported information.
His return to Stamford Bridge, six years after leaving the club, is "imminent", according to the Italian publication Tuttosport.
The Blues are looking for a replacement for Maurizio Sarri, who is about to be named director of Juventus.
The future of Benitez is currently in the air in Newcastle, while the club is in full public tender offer.
SunSport revealed exclusively that Mike Ashley had offered him a monstrous contract worth £ 15 million – but only for a year.
If the 59-year-old makes a sensational return, Chelsea fans will be far from happy.
Despite winning the Europa League during his stay in London, he failed to win fans because of his badociation with Liverpool and his blues fights in the mid-2000s.
He has also criticized Chelsea on numerous occasions – before being announced as interim leader in 2012 following the dismissal of Roberto Di Matteo.
In 2007, Benitez had a boost: "Chelsea is a great club with fantastic players, every manager wants to coach such a big team.
"But I would never accept this job, out of respect for my old team in Liverpool, whatever that may be – for me, there is only one club in England, and it's Liverpool. "
With rumors circulating online, a fan wrote, "I'm selling my season ticket if Benitez comes to Chelsea, absolutely refuse to support a team led by this div."
Another said: "If Chelsea names Rafa Benitez, I'm really done with all that."
Benitez's record at Chelsea

Sell my season ticket if Benitez comes to Chelsea. Absolutely refuse to support a team with this div in charge.

And a third added, "Rafa Benitez … you're kidding"
Bookmakers have significantly reduced their chances of becoming the new manager from 20/1 to 4/1.
He is the second favorite behind the big favorite Frank Lampard with Mbadimiliano Allegri also in the mix.
Jose Mourinho is also about to return for a third stint. Javier Gracia of Watford is also linked.
Benitez is believed to be considering his options, but has ruled out the move to China.
