The Ningo-Prampram MP revealed why Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah fled when chaos erupted during the inauguration of the 8th legislature.

Speaking in an interview, Sam Nartey George explained that the future of the country rests on the shoulders of the Chief Justice in the absence of a President, Vice President and Speaker of Parliament.

He said this was the main reason he fled the scene when military personnel arrived in the Chamber.

“The Chief Justice fled from Parliament when the soldiers arrived because no one knew what the soldiers were going to do.

“If anything bad had happened to the Chief Justice during this short period, it could have amounted to an attack on the state,” he said.

Sam George, among many other lawmakers, including Murtala Mohammed, Dr Dominic Ayine, accused former Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul of deploying military personnel to the House.

According to him, the deputy of Bimbila “did not have the power” to execute such orders.

“While we were in the House, Dominic Nitiwul kept telling us that if we didn’t behave, he was going to call in the army and we kept telling him that he had no power to do it, ”he added.

Although Sam George condemned the act orchestrated by Mr Nitiwul, he said the military posed no threat to any lawmakers present.

“You can condemn their entry, but their conduct was professional,” he said.
