Bryan Acheampong, Deputy Minister of National Security
Ghana's national security plays a vital role in the nation's livelihoods, particularly protecting Ghanaians from various threats, both at home and abroad. The election season is no different. In fact, the notoriety of the agency is growing, said Bryan Acheampong, Minister of State for National Security.
Mr. Acheampong told Samson Lardy, News News host, on Saturday that the National Security Working Group (consisting of police, army officers, and security personnel) is generally deployed. at the home of each presidential and parliamentary candidate in advance of the elections.
"It's a standard protocol that protects all candidates," he said.
He added, "In addition to that, we also receive intelligence information and we track, detect, and disable if necessary, but I'm not comfortable sharing that information over the air."
However, he did not know that just hours before the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon on Thursday, dozens of armed men wearing a black mask and a shirt "NSC" would sack the home of MP Sam George.
He erased the rumors regarding the number of arrests made during the capture of the attackers.
"We arrested nine people in the house," adding that out of nine, six were injured for resisting arrest. All injuries were minor and all injured people received medical treatment, he said.
He also urged Ghanaians to refrain from making false statements about the role of national security in the attacks.
"I do not know why the [National Security personnel] those who went there to help are blamed, "he said. "If they behave badly, we will deal with them, but those who went there for the public good deserve to be congratulated."
Acheampong badures the public that its team is "actively engaged" in resolving what happened on Thursday, and is committed to disclosing any information related to the attacks when it becomes available.
He ended up giving advice.
Do not believe everything you've read about national security on Facebook and Twitter, he recommended. Most of it is "prepared by social media activists".
