The Ghana NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child (GNCRC) has expressed its disappointment over the incident of “baby harvesting and child trafficking” in some health facilities in Accra and condemns it in uncertain terms.

The Coalition therefore urged all institutions responsible for ensuring justice to act accordingly without fear or favor and to ensure that victims and their families obtain the greatest justice.

He also called on the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to urgently form a task force to further investigate the matter in order to unravel the full truth of the incident.

In addition, he called on the government to increase as a priority the logistics and budgets in the field of child protection and children’s rights in order to allow all institutions related to children to function properly.

These were contained in a statement issued and signed by its National President, Mr. Philip Bosomtwi Amoah and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast.

He praised the efforts of the Ghanaian Police Service, OECS and Medical and Dental Council for the collaboration and excellent work done while encouraging mothers and family members who come to hospitals and clinics to childbirth and health care with their children to be vigilant.

The coalition further called on international, national and local organizations whose aim was to defend the rights and protection of the child to double their activities in order to firmly support the protection of children’s rights in the country.

He encouraged all its members to activate their investigative lenses and to monitor all institutions that deal with children.
