Stress exists everywhere, even among our youngest, and Rainbow School Board uses a program to help them cope.
Grades 1 and 6 students participated in the program Children also have stress! ®program since September.
Mary Jago, head of mental health at the board of directors, said the teachers involved in the program as learners were learning many ways to create a peaceful, safe and stimulating clbadroom environment while dispensing the program.
Children also have stress! ® is offered by the Rainbow District School Board Mental Health Team in six-week blocks. Students participate in a series of activities and lessons based on skills ranging from 5 to 50 minutes.
Teachers who participate in the program as learners learn many ways to create a peaceful, safe and stimulating clbadroom environment while delivering the program.
"Children also have stress! The ® program is one of many ways the board delivers on its commitment to improve the mental health and well-being of students and staff, "said Norm Blaseg, Rainbow's Director of Education. District School Board.
The Rainbow District School Board adopted its first strategic plan on mental health in September 2018. This plan guides the work of the board by integrating student mental health policy into its strategic planning; raise public awareness to reduce stigma and increase the ability to quickly recognize the signs of mental health problems and to know how to access an appropriate intervention; and the establishment of evidence-based mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention services to promote healthy mental health clbadrooms.
