Italian football club AS Roma will join the blockchain Socios voting platform via a partnership with blockchain sports and entertainment firm Chiliz.
In an official announcement published on July 19, Chiliz revealed that AS Roma would join Socios, a sports platform developed by Chiliz, to launch a token for fans of AS Roma. Dedicated tokens are designed to give fans the right to vote in certain decisions delegated by clubs.
The post further explains that "The more fans vote and interact with the club through the app, the more they can earn rewards, compete for unique experiences, and access exclusive products, games, and rankings. "Voting options should include the designation of a club, a voice during warm-up activities at Stadio Olimpico, among others.
The chips will be exchangeable against the native token of Socios, called $ CHZ. Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO and founder of Socios, commented on the partnership:
"This partnership gives us the opportunity to inform a broad consumer audience of the benefits of blockchain and cryptocurrencies in Europe, Asia and Latin America. If you add up all the fan bases of our current partners, we are already looking for a potential audience consisting of hundreds of millions of fans and sports users, both for $ CHZ and Socios.com. "
In mid-May, Chiliz announced a strategic partnership with Binance Chain, the leading Binance cryptocurrency exchange network. At the time, Dreyfus pointed out that the new integration with Binance's main network would increase Socios' access to the liquidity pool of the global Binance community.
The sports industry has gradually embraced blockchain technology and digital currencies. Recently, the main Portuguese sports club, SL Benfica, has revealed that it now accepts cryptocurrency for goods and tickets.
