China investigates a US delivery company about Huawei packages

China has decided to investigate a major US parcel delivery company, FedEx, suspected of violating China's courier delivery regulations. This is an apparent response in Washington in the intensification of the trade dispute.

Central Chinese public television reported Saturday that FedEx was under investigation for package rerouting and for violating the legal rights of its customers.

According to Reuters, Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei claimed that in May, FedEx had diverted two parcels sent from Japan and sent to the company in China in the United States.

Huawei also claims that FedEex attempted to return two more packages to the United States that were sent from Vietnam to Huawei's offices elsewhere in Asia.

While the US Department of Commerce had recently placed Huawei on a blacklist of trade, known as the "list of entities," accusations have been made in China that the US government could have asked for packages to be diverted.

FedEx China said that the packages had been misdirected by mistake and that the company had been asked to divert them by no outside party.

China is apparently stepping up measures in response to Washington's pressure. He announced Friday that he would draw up a list of foreign entities that undermine the legitimate interests of Chinese companies.
