The Chinese economy posted a 6.2% growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2019 – the lowest since March 1992.
The National Bureau of Statistics of China said that the number fell by 6.4% in the first quarter of the year.
Beijing officials predicted the country's economy would continue to face "downward pressure," while the Sino-US trade war continues in its second year.
