Chris Brown's Rape Arrest in Paris: French Police Holds R & B Star

R & B singer Chris Brown was arrested in Paris on suspicion of rape.

A 24-year-old woman allegedly accused Brown of having raped the evening of January 15 at a hotel in the French capital.

Two police officers said that Brown and two other people were in detention in Paris after a woman filed a rape complaint.

Brown was arrested on Monday and is still in custody today while the police are investigating the charges, they said.

One of the other inmates would be Brown's bodyguard, according to one of the police officials.

The French edition of Closer magazine reported that the woman had accused Brown of having raped at the Mandarin Oriental hotel.

She said she met Brown at the Crystal, a nightclub near the Champs-Élysée, and then returned to his hotel with other women and three men.

The alleged victim allegedly claimed that Brown had invited her to the hotel and then attacked her when they were alone together.

The woman also allegedly accused Brown's bodyguard and another singer's friend of having abused her.

The musician was seen in the French capital attending events of the city's fashion week.

"He is accused of rape and is currently being held on the premises of the judicial police of the 1st district," said a prosecutor.

"He was arrested with two other people on Monday and interviews and other investigations are ongoing. The offense would have occurred on the night of January 15 of this year.

Paris prosecutors now have the opportunity to release Brown and his badociates or to open a criminal investigation.

Brown's publicists at Sony Music would not comment immediately.

He has had repeated legal troubles since he pleaded guilty to the 2009 murder of his girlfriend, Rihanna, in the United States.

He finished his probation in this case in 2015.

The model Liziane Gutierrez also claimed that she had been punched in the face of the child's father, but that the case had been settled amicably.

The Crystal, also known as Crystal Lounge, describes itself as a "VIP nightclub experience in the heart of Paris".

Brown was discovered by scouting labels when he was a boy and was working at his father's petrol station, in the state of Virginia, United States.

Identified for the first time as a rapper, he then met with success thanks to his rich singing voice, but he has been more often in recent years for his legal problems.
