As a "Top Gear" host, Chris Harris can drive a lot of really cool cars. The Porsche 919 Hybrid is on another level.
Harris recently took the wheel of the winning race car at Le Mans. In addition to being extremely fast, it seems like a lot of work is needed to optimize the performance of the car. As we see, Harris was first brought to practice driving the car into the virtual world. What looks like the coolest racing simulator in the world is actually grueling. Harris says in the video that it's hot, the screen is screwing up and that the momentum and the different sensations of the road car are strangely transferred. At one point, he says that he prefers to drink a glbad of spoiled milk than to return to the simulator.

In the real car, the job is just as difficult, but Harris is up to it. After being mounted and installed, he starts to release the 1,000 available horses. The Porsche system sees 500 horsepower come from the turbocharged 2.0 liter V-4 engine, while the other half of its power comes from an electric motor and a battery. The latter feeds the front wheels and the engine feeds the rear wheels. It's a way of doing all wheel drive, apparently.
Harris says that the power and thrust of the electric motor are mesmerizing as he presses his foot for more acceleration. He adds that 185 mph comes easily for the 919 Hybrid and that he has barely tried, the car could go further. The immense force also began to shake the windshield, making it a bit difficult to see. You see, kids, race car drivers can not just drive cool cars. It's a lot of work.
