Chris Webber's success with Jalen Rose prevented Michigan's legendary "Fab Five" from coming together

Chris Webber and Jalen Rose were recruiting rivals growing up in Detroit, but that did not stop them from being close friends. In fact, they were so close that Rose followed Webber to the University of Michigan, joining a legendary recruiting clbad from 1991, known as "The Fab Five." These five guys revolutionized college basketball and won many games, but lost both trips to the NCAA finals. The second of these losses came after Webber's infamous judgment. And all these victories? They were released because of a sprawling scandal that included a reminder, a gambling ring, and payments to several Wolverine players, including Webber.

Thus, the "Fab Five" legacy is complicated, largely because of Webber's mistakes. And that fact fueled decades of beef between the old best friends. Webber seemed sensitive and neutral about her past, while Rose may have been too aggressive to push Webber to apologize for her past. This beef between them was broadcast in television programs, documentaries and books, and the situation worsened.

This episode of Beef History tells the story of a friendship that has turned into a feud, with the hope that spreading information could help bring back the "Fab Five" and their legacy where they should be: together and important in the history of Michigan.
