The regular football season is almost over and the provisional team of the 29-star Black Stars for the 2019 Nations Cup tournament has already arrived in Ghana.

The provisional team is expected to begin preparations in Abu Dhabi from 1 June to end the country's long wait for the title.

Since the Black Stars won the competition in 1982, they have participated in three finals and this year in Egypt, they form a group alongside Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau and Benin.

Christian Atsu, who is on the provisional list and should qualify for the last 23 of the tournament, is confident that Ghana will finally win the cup, but admits that it will be impossible without unity in the camp and without the support of Ghanaians.

"I'm 100% sure we can win the tournament. This will be possible if all Ghanaians believe and support the team while leaving the players and technical staff to solve the internal problems of the camp. We need unity. We need the unit beyond the field. Journalists, fans and everyone must continue to support the team with a good spirit in order to win the CAN, "Atsu said in an exclusive interview with Joy Sports.

"However, sometimes when we participate in tournaments and we have problems, the journalists end up exposing them, and then people start talking a lot. As a result, the fans lose interest and their spirit is no longer behind the team. The fans do not need to insult the players because we need their support until the end. After the tournament, fans can then begin to badyze and criticize the players, "he added.

If Atsu makes the final team, it will be his fourth Afcon. He was considered the most valuable player when Ghana finished second in 2015.

Atsu had a good season helping Newcastle finish 13th in the Premier League.

He went to Ghana last week and went to Kokrobite Beach with his former team, Cheetah FC.
