The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) says it is willing and ready to participate in the consultative process to make the 2021 Bill on the Promotion of Appropriate Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values worthwhile.
The CCG had followed and participated with attention in the debate and “wishes to state unequivocally that it supports the bill and prays that it will see the light of day”.
A statement signed by Rev. Dr Cyril GK Fayose, secretary general of the CCG, and copied to the Ghanaian news agency in Accra, said in previous Council statements on LGBTQI +, that it indicated God’s position on the marriage and homosexuality.
The statement says according to Genesis 2:24, marriage was a union between a man and a woman.
Therefore, homosexuality was a redefinition of the family system other than what God intended when He created mankind.
“There is no space for the procreation and education of children with the love of a father and a mother. Homosexuality is an act of perversion and abomination and it attracts the wrath of God (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Genesis 19: 1-28), ”the statement read.
He said all ethnic groups in the country disapprove of same-sex unions and relationships, and in Ghana, marriage is between a man and a woman.
The statement said Ghana cannot dismiss its unique family value system for the so-called human rights of the few.
It was important to protect family values, which were the foundation of the nation, he said, and that same-sex unions had no place in Ghana’s family value system.
The statement called on all Ghanaians to support the bill and support the process with prayers and any other means that may be necessary.
“Let’s protect the good family system that we inherited from our ancestors. The GCC will continue to pray for the good of the nation. May the Lord bless us all, ”he said.
