Christian Eriksen's agent responds after the Tottenham midfielder has confirmed his transfer plans

Christian Eriksen's agent said the Spurs playmaker did not ask for a transfer 12 months ago, despite three very lucrative offers, but the situation has changed.

Eriksen, currently in international service with Denmark, said Wednesday morning that he wanted to "try something new".

The 27-year-old is just one year old to sign Tottenham's contract, and talks on improving his £ 70,000 contract a week are at a standstill.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez wants to take him to the Spanish capital. He discussed a potential transfer with Daniel Levy during a dinner at Madrid City Hall on Friday night, in anticipation of the Champions League final.

But Levy made it clear that establishing a new contract with Eriksen was a priority and the Spurs did not want to sell.

Eriksen wants a new challenge

Eriksen's statement shows, however, that he is focused on Spain.

He said Ekstra Bladet: "I feel like I'm a place in my career where I might want to try something new.

"I have the most savage and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, and that will not be negative either. would like to try something new. "

And his agent, Martin Schoots, told Standard Sport that he hoped to reach a compromise, after Eriksen made no noise last year when three clubs – one of which was Manchester United – have called.

"Last season there were three clubs, two English and one foreigner, interested in paying a huge sum to the Spurs.

"For the club, it was then a forbidden zone and for Christian, not essential. I have the impression that we are in a new situation now. "

Where next?

Perez hopes to reach an agreement with Eriksen, while he and his coach Zinedine Zidane are considering a redesign of Madrid.

Eriksen is Perez's number one goal to strengthen his midfield, despite Zidane's preference for United's Paul Pogba.

Madrid's leaders believe that Levy's position is a way to raise the price – Madrid does not want to exceed 80 million pounds – because he knows he is fighting for a loser.

Mirror Football understands that Mauricio Pochettino has replaced Giovani Lo Celso in replacement, while the Spurs are also watching James Maddison of Leicester.
