As part of the activities to mark the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, various churches held Good Friday services to remind Christians of the sufferings of Christ and his symbolism for faith.
As is the rule in the country's Catholic churches, St. Paul's Parish of Newtownre inaugurated Christ's journey to the cross.
Many could not hold back their tears as they watched Christ being beaten and then nailed to the cross.
Speaking about the incident that occurred more than 2000 years ago, the parish priest, Father Peter Rocky Hesse, said that it was a day when God was liberating his Son so that he can establish us.
He took the opportunity to call Christians to love in a practical way by being real and authentic in their actions.
"We are not able to live the love in a concrete way, so today, you and I, Christians, have been called to express our love for the way we live. I always say that the word love should never be a name, it should be a verb. It should be something we practice every day of our lives and it should start from the way we live with each other in our respectful homes and wherever we are, "he said.
Pastors from other churches visited by GhanaWeb have urged their members to always remember the pains that Christ has had to endure for their salvation and always strive to lead an exemplary life.
They reminded Christians that Easter should not be just a holiday, but a time of reflection and repentance.
