CinemaCon 2019: other highlights of the Big Warner Bros. panel.

Here's the thing about the CinemaCon presentations: these are complete exhibitions of dogs and ponies.

The studios have a few hours to present to the public (owners of movie theaters across the country and some types of journalists) what they have planned, which usually involves unveiling new trailers. and chatting with a number of related celebrities to talk to the crowd about everything that they have just seen. For This is: Chapter Two, WB presented the entire cast of the film on stage with director Andy Muschietti (who went behind the scenes with a pack of red balloons). For Joker, the studio has put Todd Phillips in the foreground to explain the impressive drift of superheroes he has created. Obviously, there is only smoke and mirrors, but in the end, the success or failure of each panel rests solely on the shoulders of the filmed sequence. Are the reactions to these images indicative of the quality of a film? Oh, absolutely not. Does a good trailer guarantee a good movie? Hahaha, you and I know better than that.

That said, the Warner Bros. panel. has been filled with many highlights, trailers and sizzling reels for films that look like potential blockbusters. We have already discussed the This is: Chapter Two and Joker Presentations in their own messages, but here is a brief recap of some of the things I've seen on the BM today, some of which might interest you, the world's BMD readers:

• New Godzilla: the king of monsters The images had an epic reach, a beautiful execution. This footage got the biggest reaction from the CinemaCon crowd, and rightly so: it looks like Michael Dougherty made a helluva movie, and the footage we saw (which allowed Ghidorah to threaten a band Soldiers on what appeared to be a frozen lake before Godzilla to look at him) was great.
• The next Scooby-Doo movie is animated and called, simply, Scoob! Just like that, with the exclamation point.
• We have seen new images of Wonder Woman 1984 it looked like a lot of fun: Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) having a romantic stroll near the Washington Monument; Wonder Woman throwing in the middle of a busy DC street; Wonder Woman badping a lot of bad in a mall. I could be wrong, but it turned out that the subtle grain that had been applied to the original Wonder Woman (presumably a maneuver aimed at giving the movie the feeling of being a piece of Snyder DC movies) seems to have been entirely deleted. Everything was bright, clear and clear. More of that, please.
• We saw behind-the-scenes images of Birds of prey it was pretty cool. The design of the production is complex and brilliant, and everyone involved seems to have a decisive role in the making of the film.
• Bill Condon and Helen Mirren took the floor to present the first trailer of The good liar, a Hitchbadian thriller starring Mirren and Ian McKellan. We spent a lot of time telling the audience that the end of the movie was a shock and should not be ruined. The film itself looks crooked, manly, paranoid and maybe a little scary. Consider me as sold.
• At one point, a holographic pikachu appeared on the scene and presented a clip of Detective Pikachu. It was slightly terrifying (the hologram, not the footage, the footage was actually quite fun).
• We saw a sizzling reel for Mike Flanagan Sleep doctor which relies heavily on the legacy of The brilliantDanny (Ewan McGregor), adult, seeing the word "REDRUM" in a mirror and the opening theme of Kubrick's movie Sleep doctortreatment title. Not a lot of footage, but what's in it looks good.
• We also saw the first trailer of Ed Norton Motherless Brooklyn, that Norton wrote, directed and staged. Norton has released all the world's actor tricks for this one, very clearly in search of an Oscar, and he could very well succeed. In addition, this trailer was recorded for Radiohead's "Pyramid Song", which was an interesting choice.
