Citi reporters reportedly badaulted by NIA officials
Two journalists working for Citi FM and Citi TV, based in Accra, were reportedly ill-treated Friday by officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) while covering the registration exercise in the group. Police complaint

Complainant's complaints?
Mr. Washington, who is also Tema's correspondent for Citi FM and Citi TV, told the Daily Graphic yesterday that, along with Mr. Twum, he went to the center to cover the exercise following complaints from some residents regarding extortion charges. by NIA officials in the district in connection with the exercise.
According to him, when they arrived at the center around 3.30pm, they followed the protocol by introducing themselves to the security personnel and to the NIA manager.
"I went to the inner room to talk to the officer in charge, so my cameraman took gunshots on the premises," he said.
Mr. Washington stated that he had engaged in an informal conversation with some of the officials in the absence of the officer in charge, but he soon saw other officials arguing with Mr. Twum. to explain why he had filmed the exercise.
"I quickly got up to get closer to intervene to prevent further aggression as officials slammed on him with slaps and a frenzied effort to grab his camera, but a man in military uniform stopped me and prevented me from approaching. where my cameraman was attacked, "said Washington.
In the fray, said Mr. Washington, an applicant who was in the center seized Mr. Twum's camera and hid it in his fabric to prevent it from being destroyed by the attackers.
Mr. Washington added that the officer in charge of the center, who was to be lunched at the time, returned to join the alleged badault on Mr. Twum.
"At one point, she accused me in the middle of words that were impossible to print and tried to break my glbades, but to no avail," Washington said.
Attempts to contact NIA Communications Officer Francis Palmdeti about his comments on the matter were unsuccessful.
