CLARK COMMITTEE – The Clark County Public Health Department confirmed Friday afternoon that the measles outbreak has increased to 42 cases, and seven suspect cases are currently under investigation.
The Ministry of Health said in a press release that one of the confirmed cases was in a person who had received a dose of the MMR vaccine.
"The measles vaccine is not perfect, but a dose is 93% effective at preventing disease," said Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County Health Officer and Director of Public Health.
Melnick said the two recommended doses of the vaccine offer even greater protection.
Health officials do not provide any additional information on the case with a dose of MMR vaccine to protect the patient's privacy.
