One person died and two police officers were injured when Akango youth clashed with workers at the Adamus mine over a blackout in Akango, following damage to a utility pole in one from their mining wells at Salman in the Ellembelle district.

He said that after assessing the situation, Adamus’ management informed the chief and town assembly member that officials from the Ghana Electricity Company (ECG) could only resolve the issue. the next day.

Not satisfied with the explanation, the Akango youths chased Adamus’ workers out and lashed them fiercely.

ACP Hlordzi said police at the site, who were trying to control the crowd, were also beaten.

He said an attempt to seize the rifle belonging to the police resulted in the death of one of the members of the group.

The division commander described the situation as very eventful, with police finally leaving the area around 2 a.m.

He said the police were working to recover the missing rifle.
