Claudia Lawrence's father, missing, reveals that the pain is "as raw as it was 10 years ago"

A tear rolls on Peter Lawrence's face. It's been a decade since his daughter disappeared and he is still in limbo.

The retired lawyer was shattered by her pbading but she will never stop hoping to find out what happened to Claudia.

Tomorrow, ten years after the day of his disappearance, Peter, 72, will give another emotionally charged press conference to try to solve the mystery.

It will be in York Minster, where he is part of the congregation.

Peter, who advocates for the families of the missing, said, "The pain does not suffer less. It's still as raw as it was ten years ago. It's horrible.

"Not knowing what happened is the worst. I can imagine that the pain would gradually decrease if you knew what happened, if you have closure. "

Everything seemed normal when Peter and his ex-wife Joan spoke to Claudia, 35, the night before she fainted.

The next morning, she failed to run for the post of York University Head at 6 am.

The day they realized that they were missing Claudia, Peter went to her home fearing the worst.

He said, "I think I thought I found lying on the floor."

In fact, everything was in order, with his purse containing money, a driver's license and a bank card on the bed and jewels on his dresser.

He said: "Claudia was someone who would never go out without her purse or her jewelry, unless she worked. Her slippers were as close to the front door as if she had put on her boots and left for work.

In the first few months after his death, Peter, a very private man, invited the media to his home in Slingsby, North York, for weekly press briefings.

He was desperate to keep his daughter's case in the public eye.

Peter and Claudia were very close and met every week for a drink at his local Nags Head in Heworth, York, where they met with friends Suzy Cooper, Jen King and George Forman, the owner.

Visibly shaken, Peter said, "I miss our company the most. Just that she's here to talk.

"I miss her smile and her bright eyes. I miss her all the time.

"On his birthday, we were both going to eat. This makes her birthday even more difficult now. Last time, a few weeks pbaded before he disappeared.

In the last 10 years, North Yorkshire police have spent 1 million books investigating his disappearance, with up to 100 officers.

During the investigation, five regulars at his local pub were arrested for murder, but they were all released without charge. Peter, now living in York, understands that the police reduced the investigation, but they recently contacted him about the case.

He said, "It shows that they are still trying, they have not given up. It's a comfort. Peter is lobbying for a new law to allow an appointed guardian to take ownership of property and financial affairs 90 days after the disappearance of a person.

It received royal badent almost two years ago, but it still has to become law.

In the meantime, Claudia's family will not be able to make any decisions regarding the use of her two-bedroom terraced house.

Peter, recipient of an OBE last year for his campaign, said: "The new law will always be known as Claudia law, which means a lot to me."

He said: "There are times when it becomes really difficult but you have to live it, you have to go on. Loyalty changes, relationships change.

He added: "It is possible that someone still transmits information. That's why I continue. I'll never give up.
