Clyne ruled out for six months after crossing injury

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne was hit hard by the new season after six months of absence.

The Telegraph says the player was sent home after the US tour of Liverpool and is now held out for the foreseeable future after suffering a cruciate knee injury.

Clyne was one of the players linked to Anfield's departure, but this latest news will almost certainly keep him in the club for the time being.

The former English international, who had been loaned to Bournemouth late last season, had been badociated with a return to Crystal Palace to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka – a decision that now seems unlikely.

The regular play time at Anfield was always going to be hard to get for next season for Clyne, but his future should now be put on hold until the January transfer window.
