The Ghana Cocoa Council (COCOBOD) organized a one-day seminar for its accredited accounting staff at Cocoa House in Accra at the call of the Director General, Hon. Joseph Boahen Aidoo rallies with emerging trends in the financial fraternity to continue building a formidable team in managing cocoa revenues.

L & # 39; Hon. Boahen Aidoo revealed that COCOBOD was in the process of transformation and that the Council needed a lot of financial resources to do so, stressing that this required a saving of time and money, thus calling for a reduction in losses and to improve income generation.

He observed that there were inconsistencies in simple transactions and that it needed to be addressed through a reconciliation in order to balance the accounts.

"I expect you to adopt the best software and accounting technologies and use them in your work." He added: "Any advanced software needed to make your job easier, whatever the cost, will be taken into account".

The head of COCOBOD invited the facilitators to do their best to provide participants with the skills needed to work with modern and highly technological trends.

Addressing participants, the Deputy Director General for Finance and Administration, Mr. Ray Ankrah stressed that COCOBOD plays a key role in the country's development process and that can not be overemphasized on strengthening the skills of chartered accountants in the organization.

"This training program marks the point where we are getting closer to modern financial technologies so you can take up your responsibilities," he added.

Dr. Noel Tagoe, the lead facilitator, expressed the concern that participants not only interested in their accounting skills and their profession, but also that they examine the problems of globalization and help their organization to stay relevant and profitable in modern businesses.

Mr. Francis Akwasi Opoku, Director of Human Resources and Secretary of the Solicitor, urged participants to make sufficient use of the skills learned during the seminar to improve their performance in order to strengthen a formidable accounting team for COCOBOD.

"We will continue to give you access to modern skills through ongoing training to strengthen your capacity and develop the cocoa industry," he concluded.
