Coleen Rooney was involved in a car accident in Washington DC, canceling his Honda 4×4.

The crash occurred near the house that she shares with her husband, Wayne, and their children, Kai, nine, Klay, five, Kit, three, and Cbad, 11 months.

This comes a few weeks after the footballer was arrested for "public intoxication".

A source told the Sun: "Coleen had a violent shock while driving the family car.

"Fortunately, Coleen escaped without a scratch, but the engine was messy.

Coleen joked about the accident by saying he was delighted to be able to get a new Range Rover

"One side of the car was completely crushed, she could not let it go and it was like a total loss.

"Obviously, she had been upset at the time but Coleen was just grateful that no one was hurt."

However, Coleen would not have hesitated to dismiss her Honda because she thought it was too "granny" and is now delighted to get a Range Rover.

Aged 32, she thought that the Honda CR-V that she was driving – at a price of £ 25,080 – was "cheap" and wanted a brighter engine.

The source added: "Coleen prefers expensive Range Rovers to the Honda mom, so having a new engine was the bright side for a horrible day.

"She told her friends that she was secretly happy to get rid of it."

The Rooneys arrived in the United States last year after signing Wayne with DC United.

However, Coleen reportedly accused the former captain of Manchester United and England of "ruining their family's life" after his arrest for public drunkenness last month.

Rooney was arrested on Dec. 16 after a flight from Saudi Arabia landed in the United States, where he plays for DC United.

The 33-year-old star later claimed to have been "disoriented" by the prescribed sleeping pills that he had taken in the plane while he was drinking.
