Xfinity camera owners with dogs or cats can now quickly find this clip that lets you know who, knowing what, you know where.

A filter is now available for Xfinity Internet or Xfinity Home customers with cameras and video streaming service from the company using artificial intelligence (AI) to zoom in on the activity of pets. When the movement of the animal is detected, it creates a smart thumbnail image of the animal to make the search and review clips as simple as activating the filter.

The detection of pets / animals is an increasingly common feature of connected security cameras. the Arlo Ultra, for example, can send a personalized alert when he sees an animal. Plus, the Nest Aware service available with Nest Cam IQ includes smart alerts that can differentiate between a talking person and a barking dog.

Comcast has developed its own artificial intelligence algorithm to go beyond commercially available solutions. This algorithm has been developed to detect everything from a motionless dog in perfect lighting to a dog running 30 meters away, according to Matt Zelesko, an engineer at Comcast.

The service also offers AI-based filters for events triggered by movements of people and vehicles.
