The Coming 2 America trailer has been released, and Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall are back for another thrilling royal adventure after more than three decades. The actors first shared screen space in the 1988 film Come to America.
Much like the original, Coming 2 America promises to be a lot of fun with Arsenio and Eddie donning multiple characters in the film. Sure, humor doesn’t sound too “ smart, ” but the Eddie Murphy brand has always been associated with burlesque and disguised humor.
In the new film, Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddie) and his best friend Semmi (Arsenio) search for Joffer’s illegitimate son, who currently lives in America, unaware of his royal lineage and origins. Semmi and Joffer return to America to find the latter’s son and prepare him to become the next king of Zamunda. Will they succeed?
The official synopsis for the film reads: “Set in the lush, royal land of Zamunda, the newly crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidant Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on a whole new hilarious adventure that sets them apart. travels the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
Directed by Craig Brewer, Coming 2 America also stars Jermaine Fowler, James Earles Jones, Wesley Snipes, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones and Shari Headley, among others.
Coming 2 America will premiere March 5 on Amazon Prime Video.
