As of July 6, Ghana had registered 1,982 active cases of coronavirus of which 23 were in serious condition and 11 others in critical condition, according to the Ghana Health Service website.
The number had increased by 89 cases from the previous day, July 5, when active cases stood at 1,893.
Since the advent of the virus, Ghana has recorded 97,130 cases of which 94,349 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
799 people have since died from the virus.
The sharp increase in daily active cases has become a matter of concern for some health analysts who say Ghana may soon experience a third wave of the Covid-19 virus.
Their concerns are further exacerbated by the community spread of the Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus which has become infamous for being responsible for the carnage in India and other countries.
With only 852,047 people vaccinated in the country, there are fears that the population is not prepared for a possible third wave.
Tonight on The Probe, host Emefa Apawu will be joined by Presidential Health Advisor Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare as they discuss what may have sparked a possible third wave in the country.
They will also discuss what has become of Ghana’s quest to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of the year to achieve collective immunity, and how the country is preparing to tackle the Covid-19 variant. Delta.
The Probe airs at 8 p.m. and viewers are encouraged to send questions to 054-010-9009.
