play the videoMavis Hawa Koomson is Minister of the Special Development Initiative
Comments according to which GH ¢ 250 000 could not build any significant roadblocks as part of the government initiative "A village, a dam" made by the Minister of the Special Development Initiative, Mrs. Mavis Hawa Koomson , have been taken out of context.
The ministry's Public Relations Officer (PR), Kabore Awudu Moro, in a statement copied to MyNewsGh.com, insists that the comments are misunderstood, taken out of context, and misrepresented.
According to him, the interview lasted more than three minutes, but political gainers chose to cut only 30 seconds to take it out of context.

We drew our attention to an excerpt from a lengthy interview with Ghanaweb in which the Minister of the Special Development Initiative is said to have commented on the construction of the One One government initiative, One Dam.
I would like to record after listening to the entirety of the interview, the Hon. Hawa KOOMSON's statements that became viral were misunderstood, taken out of context and misrepresented.
She never meant that a SIGNIFICANT dam could not be built by her department because of the budget allocation, but she rather wanted to refer to the size of the dams in relation to the Propaganda of political opponents who seemed to suggest that, one should have built an Akosombo dam instead of small earth dams under construction.
It still quotes GH ¢ 250 000 to highlight the types of dams under construction and does not attribute the size of the dams under construction to the amount allocated to the project. In fact, the amount allocated to the dams was based on an appropriate badessment of needs.
I think that she was taken completely out of context. The interview she gave lasted about 3 minutes, but for some unknown reason, some people decided to cut only 30 seconds of section, apparently to take her out of context and do the wrong thing.
I want to say that the department is currently building appropriate and significant dams in the northern regions, which can serve beneficiary communities in the five northern regions.
Dams under construction are designed for the judicious use of state resources.
It should be emphasized that dam types under construction are well designed and adapted to the beneficiary communities. In other words, there are different types of dams that come in different sizes; small earth dams, concrete dams, larger dams.
MSDI is currently building smaller types of dams, called small dams.
