The criticisms of a former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Stephen Atubiga against the party do not appear to be over.
He criticized NDC’s IT director Mr. Osei Kwame Griffiths over the NDC’s inability to use technology to effectively conduct the 2020 polls.
Mr Atubiga reiterated a comment he made earlier that the computer center established by the NDC for the 2020 elections was substandard and unsuitable for the purpose of their creation.
He said comparing Mr. Griffiths to the current chief executive of the National Communications Authority (NCA) who is also IT director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Joe Anokye is like comparing the alcoholic drink “Akpeteshie” Produced by distilling palm or sugarcane wine, to a well-packaged and branded Johnnie Walker.
“Comparing the NDC Griffiths to Joe Anokye is like comparing Akpeteshie and Johnnie Walker,” he said.
He added that “the computer centers created by the NDC were like a cybercafé in Binduri that was not functioning properly.”
Mr. Atubiga, who resigned from the NDC, further described the party’s current national chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, as the most incompetent national chairman in the party’s history.
Mr. Atubiga, who has formed his own political party, the National Liberation Congress Party, said Mr. John Dramani Mahama will never again occupy the seat of government if Ofosu Ampofo remains his party’s national chairman.
He explained that Ofosu Ampofo lacks the organizational skills and competencies to ensure that an NDC presidential candidate wins an election.
In the 2020 election, he said, the NDC had no idea and didn’t even know how to put the results together due to Ofosu Ampofo’s ineffectiveness.
Besides the lack of organization, Atubiga said Mr. Ofosu Ampofo “intends to lead the party in opposition in order to punish someone and prevent them from becoming president.
“Ofosu Ampofo has sworn that as long as he remains national president, no one will be president. Let me say that the NDC should forget 2024 if Ofosu Ampofo is the national chairman of the party.
“There is no way John Mahama will win if Ofosu is National President.”
“What is happening in the NDC shows that they are not ready for 2024. The party is the wicked party in Ghana. This is why founder Jerry John Rawlings had problems with the party.
“The people of the party that I am forming are ready to support me. I am no longer loyal to the NDC, I have the left of the NDC, ”he said on Accra base Net 2 on Monday 2 August.
