The young people concerned in the municipality of Jomoro called on President Akufo-Addo to urgently reopen the country’s land borders.
According to the young people, the prolonged closure of land borders caused the collapse of businesses, as all businesses in the border towns were rooted in these closed borders.

Nana Kwasi noted that “Elubo’s businessmen and women were unable to repay their loans due to the drastic reduction in the use of goods and services associated with obsolete goods”.
He said that as a result, many of them left border communities in order to escape arrest regarding their loan repayment.
The Assembly member said most of the affected parents were unable to afford the education of their wards due to the prolonged border closure in Elubo, a situation he said has forced some higher education students whose parents are now unable to support their higher education, to drop out of school.

He stressed that crime was on the increase in border areas, adding that “young people whose daily economic activities depended on the border are now turning to crime and other social vices as alternatives to make ends meet.”
He explained that Ghanaian cocoa farmers whose farms were on Ivorian soil were no longer able to work on their farms, causing huge financial loss to farmers and the government, all economic activities in border communities. being completely blocked and living in the same communities. completely dead ”.
Nana Kwasi suggested that an antigen testing regime be instituted at land borders just like that instituted at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to allow the free movement of people.
