The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) has urged the government of Ghana to conduct a transparent investigation into the controversial purchase of Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine from an intermediary.
This is contained in a press release issued on the occasion of the African Union Anti-Corruption Day.
According to GII, all suspected cases of corruption under the current government must be urgently examined in order to appease the minds of the citizens.
“The allegations of corruption in the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccine (Sputnik V) from Russia remain unresolved and the government’s silence on this is deafening.
“Another very concerning issue is the secrecy surrounding the Government of Ghana’s contract with Frontiers HealthCare Services to perform COVID-19 tests on passengers at Kotoka International Airport.
“The GII hopes the government will conduct a transparent investigation into these cases and, where it has already been done, proactively discloses the report to appease the minds of Ghanaians,” quoted from GII’s press release signed by the GII. executive. The director, Ms. Linda Ofori-Kwafo, said.
The 2021 edition of the African Anti-Corruption Day will be celebrated on Sunday, July 11, 2021.
This year’s theme is “Regional Economic Communities: Key Actors in the Implementation of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption”.
