The city of Birmingham has completed the signing of Willem II playmaker Dan Crowley.

BirminghamLive announced earlier this week that the Blues were hoping to make the second summer season the former youth star of Arsenal and Aston Villa.

The club has now confirmed its arrival to Crowley by signing a two-year contract with an additional one-year option for an estimated £ 750,000.

Crowley, who started his career at Villa before joining Arsenal, is eager to get back to the test in England two years after initially going to Eredevisie to borrow the Go Ahead Eagles.

The Coventry-born midfielder made waves during his stint at Bodymoor Heath and was part of the Villa team that won the NextGen series in 2013.

He impressed the Arsenal scouts, who convinced the club to spend more than £ 200,000 to take him to the UAE in 2014 – one of the highest tuition fees for a pre-purse player.

A number of borrow episodes followed for Cowley, who then agreed to permanent terms with Willem II without making his senior debut for Arsenal, although he was included in their pre-tour -season in Singapore in 2015.

He spent part of his first season on loan with SC Cambuur, but returned to last season to play a key role in a team that finished tenth in Eredivisie and reached the final of the Netherlands Cup.

Earlier this year, he was linked to PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord, but he is the latest to arrive at St Andrew's, after Gary Gardner has definitively signed with Villa.
