The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) confirmed Wednesday, February 27, 2019 the date of the official takeover of the Ghana Electricity Corporation (ECG) by Power Distribution Services Ltd (PDS).
An ECG resumption project by PDS Ghana was postponed last month.
Power Distribution Services (PDS) Ghana was scheduled to resume ECG operations as of February 1, 2019.
A MiDA press release, with a copy to JoyBusiness, said: "On Thursday, February 21, 2019, the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) Board of Directors confirmed on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, that the handover ceremony for electricity was planned. Anticipated turnaround of the ECG
Power Distribution Service has promised a mbadive turnaround of the ECG when it finally takes over.
PDS is expected to invest more than $ 500 million in the ECG.
The Millennium Development Authority has indicated that some clauses of the concession would result in the "agreement" being reviewed every five years if they are unable to meet the KPIs of the concession.
