The presentation of the budget is in accordance with Article 179 of the Constitution of 1992, the 2016 Law on Public Financial Management (Law 921).

In October 2020, Ofori Atta presented the 2021 expenditure in advance credits.

Public expenditure for the first quarter of 2021 has been estimated at GH 27.34 billion, with total revenue and subsidies expected at GH 13.3 billion, while total expenditure and arrears clearance stands at GH 24. , 01 billion GH.

YEN.com.gh reported earlier that Ofori Atta had been transported to the United States for emergency medical treatment.

The ministry’s public relations office revealed in a press release that Ofori Atta has been suffering from complications from recovery from Covid-19 since December 2020.

“After recovering from Covid-19 last December, Mr. Ofori Atta has medical complications that doctors advise, require additional interventions that are not currently available in Ghana,” added excerpts from the statement.

Ofori Atta was, however, expected to spend two weeks abroad and return for his appearance before Parliament’s nominations to review his portfolio.

Meanwhile, the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, called on opinion leaders as well as the government to care about the issues of women and girls in the country.

As Ghana joins with the rest of the world to mark International Women’s Day, Rebeca Akufo-Addo said that while much has been done to ensure equality, the coronavirus pandemic further pushes Ghana to do more for sustainable growth.
