A former education minister and MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has condemned his colleagues in parliament over the $ 28 million car loan facility.
Speaking to his Twitter page, the MP argued that such arrangements, which have generated heated debate, leave Parliament as an “apartheid structure” where there is neither transparency nor accountability. He believes that the acquisition of auto loans should be the sole responsibility of MPs and not of the government.

“Members of Parliament who need auto loans should be allowed to enter into their own private car loan agreements with banks, just like most private sector workers do,” he argues.

The $ 28 million car loan, once distributed, will give each MP $ 100,000 towards the purchase of an all-new V8 Land Cruiser. Even though some MPs rejected the loan offer, others say it is very important to them as they choose Uber in Parliament for all procedures.

Sekyere Afram Plains MP Mahmud Kabore says it is best for President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to divorce their wives if they feel unable to support themselves.
The MP, responding to the debate over first and second ladies’ salaries, argued that the emoluments committee’s call to pay Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia salaries is “baseless and a misplaced priority”.
“Ghanaians are suffering under this presidency. They mismanaged the economy. If President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia think they cannot take care of their wives who are dying from the current economic hardship, they should divorce their wives and stop placing the burden on Ghanaians. The money used to pay wages can be used to build more factories, ”he argued on Kumasi-based Otec FM.

As a result of the scoop, 14 laptops were recovered. Meanwhile, the suspects are in custody being processed for court as soon as possible.
