This month, Delta Air Lines became the first airline in the Americas to operate the new Airbus A220 airliner.
The A220, which began as Bombardier C-Series, is a state-of-the-art 100- to 150-seat airliner with a single aisle. The Canadian jet is a sleek model that incorporates the latest commercial aviation technologies, such as a carbon composite fuselage and Pratt & Whitney low consumption geared turbojet engines.
The aircraft, which entered service with Swiss in 2016, has been praised by its operators for its exceptional energy efficiency.
The A220 is currently badembled in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada. However, Airbus inaugurated last month its new A220 final badembly line in Mobile, Alabama. This plant is expected to be completed in 2020.
